Samsung Notebook 9 Pen 2-in-1 Bring 8th Gen Intel Core And 15-Hour Battery Life
Samsung has updated its premium convertible line with a new 2-in-1 laptop, the Notebook 9 Pen. As the name suggests, it comes with the company's revamped S Pen stylus, and of course there is a keyboard attached, the latter of which is not always a given in the 2-in-1 space (we're looking at you, Microsoft Surface Pro).
As with the 2018 model, the S Pen conveniently slides into the base of the 2019 version so that it's easier to keep track of. However, it's not the same S Pen as before—Samsung said it reduced the latency on the gold-colored S Pen by up to 2x from the previous model, and that it now reacts as soon as it makes contact with the touchscreen display, "as if putting an actual pen to paper."
There are two versions of the Notebook 9 Pen—one with a 13.3-inch Full HD display with integrated graphics, and another more powerful variant with a 15-inch Full HD display powered by a discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX150 (2GB) GPU.
Both models sport an 8th generation Intel Core processor, LPDDR3 memory, and NVMe solid state storage (Samsung hasn't announced specific capacities for RAM and storage yet). Other features include a backlit keyboard, an HD IR camera, facial and fingerprint recognition, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity. External ports consist of two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a USB-C port, headphone/microphone combo jack, and a microSD card slot.
Samsung is promising improved battery life with its 2019 models, and specifically claiming the 54Whr battery is capable of driving the Notebook 9 Pen for up to 15 hours, with fast charging support to boot.
The new Notebook 9 Pen models will be available in 2019, with Samsung likely to show them off at the Consumer Electronics Show next month.
