Samsung Appears To Tease Galaxy Note 8 Design In Recent Tweet

Twitter users are debating whether or not a picture posted by Samsung's Exynos processor division depicts the South Korean electronics maker's forthcoming Galaxy Note 8 handset. If that is indeed the case, then pat Samsung on the back for a clever use of social media. And even if that is not the case, it is good publicity for Samsung and its unreleased phablet handset.

The picture shows a Exynos 9 system-on-chip (SoC) sitting on top of an unmarked smartphone. It is intended to promote Samsung's Exynos 8895 silicon, though Twitter users seem more interested in figuring out what handset is in the picture than discussing Samsung's flagship mobile processor.
"It's just a generic shell, likely very similar to the Note 8. Notice the lack of buttons on the side," a Twitter user writes. Another user writes, "Just me or does this look like every Note 8 rumor ever...."

The comment about there not being any buttons on the side is correct, at least from our vantage point—none seem visible on either side of the handset. However, that does not rule out a Galaxy Note 8 design. This could be a prototype. What is a little more interesting than the lack of buttons is the panel, which appears to be an Infinity Edge display. There is barely any bezel to speak of.

We will not have to wait long to find out. A recent report suggests Samsung is scheduling its Galaxy Note 8 reveal for Wednesday, August 23. If previous rumors hold true, it will sport a 6.3-inch display with glass on the front and back, dual rear cameras, and an unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SoC.
