Samsung Unveils Galaxy Grand 2 Android Phone With 5.25-inch Display

When you've got a good thing going, why change it? That's the mantra that Samsung is abiding by, as it continues to milk its longstanding Galaxy line with yet another new addition. The company's latest is the Galaxy Grand 2, a "compact" smartphone that borrows the high-brow faux-leather back from the Note III. Comically, "compact" seems to be a fine definition of a 5.25" (1280x720) widescreen display. So long as that screen suits the bill, you'll be interested to know that there's a quad-core 1.2GHz processor on the inside, a 2,600mAh battery (good for up to 10 hours of playback and 17 hours of calls), and a dual-SIM structure that'll please those who travel frequently and rely on local SIMs from various nations.

There's also 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.9MP front-facing webcam, Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + Glonass, USB 2.0, and an array of sensors (proximity, accelerometer, compass, hall).

There's no price as of yet, but it's clear that Samsung is attempting to broaden the phablet market. First the Note, next the Mega, and now, the Grand.
