Twitch Is Gifting Exclusive Apex Legends Loot For Amazon Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day is right around the corner, and while the usual assortment of discounts and bargains will be in full swing, Twitch Prime is planning to gift subscribers exclusive in-game Apex Legends content. This will include a unique Legend skin and weapon skin, along with three more exclusive Apex Legends skins throughout July and August.

So far this year, Twitch Prime has gifted free games and in-game content worth over $2,000. Ethan Evans, executive vice president of Twitch Prime, told GamesBeat that he hopes to "eclipse last year's total" of more than $3,000 before 2019 comes to a close.

"Our goal has always been to be the best deal in gaming. Being a subscriber should be a no brainer for gamer," Evans said.

Amazon acquired Twitch in 2014 for $970 million. More recently, Amazon started gifting games to Prime subscribers, through Twitch, each and every month. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can level up your Twitch account to Twitch Prime to receive free games, as well as exclusive in-game content and a channel subscription every month at no additional cost.

According to Evans, many people are unaware that a Prime Membership includes the Twitch Prime perk. Twitch is hoping to change that on Prime Day, in part by hosting the Twitch Prime Crown Cup in Las Vegas, featuring Apex Legends. It starts at 2:00 pm PT on July 13.

"The competition also features Apex Legends’ character and weapon skins exclusive to Twitch Prime members that are dropping just days before the event. So, make sure you’re following Twitch Prime’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram feeds to get the latest information on what’s dropping in the days leading up to the Vegas Crown Cup so you have the goods before all your friends," Twitch stated in a blog post.

As for Prime Day, it begins on Monday, July 15, and for the first time will run for 48 hours this year. It will include more than 1 million deals across a variety of categories, and in 18 countries.
