Futuremark's PCMark for Android Work 2.0 Battery test takes workloads from the benchmark itself (image and video editing, email and web browsing) and scripts them in a loop that runs until battery levels drop below 20 percent. This test is more real-world in terms of its setup, because we calibrate display brightness on all devices to 200 Lux and the test then locks that display brightness in for the duration. In these tests, Bluetooth connectivity and Location services are disabled, though Wi-Fi and mobile data is left enabled as part of a traditional use case workload.
Though the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ comes equipped with a slightly larger 4300mAh battery versus the previous generation Galaxy Note 9's 4000 mAh power plant, the new Note 10+ doesn't quite keep up with last year's battery life juggernaut. Perhaps its the extra 4GB of RAM on board that has to be lit up at least some of the time, or perhaps its the Note 10+'s more advanced HDR10+, low blue light capable display that's causing more power drain. Regardless, the Note 10+ still lands firmly in our top quadrant of the longest lasting Android phones we've tested, able to hang on for nearly 11 hours of continuous use. In practical real-world, mixed on/off usage the Note 10+ will last you all day and then some. We should also underscore again that the Galaxy Note 10+ also has significantly faster 25 Watt standard fast charging, for much quicker top-offs when needed.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is a gorgeous, interesting, compelling Android power user's phone. The Note 10+'s feature set is so expansive, that discovering the capabilities of this device that are most meaningful to you might take a while. There are so many bells and whistles in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series, that the user experience has a fair degree of learning curve to get proficient with what this device can do, whether you consider its decked-out camera or magic wand-waving gestures with the S-Pen. Again, some of these features feel like true, useful innovation; like the Note 10's ability to perform automatic note-to-text transcription to Microsoft Word. These features will no doubt prove valuable, especially in professional or enterprise settings. Think doctors, engineers, journalists and the like and you'll quickly see the S-Pen's expanded utility. However, other features of the device (like pen air gestures) seem more like gimmicky glitz.
Regardless, though the Galaxy Note 10+ is certainly expensive at $1100, it's also arguably one of the best looking, best feeling large format smartphones we've ever worked with. The Galaxy Note 10+'s premium design, materials and build quality are second to none in the market currently. There's no question, this phone is stunning. Then again, there are a lot of impressive devices on the market these days, and in some cases, for a lot less.
What it really comes down to is that Samsung's new Galaxy Note 10 series and the Note 10+ we tested here, offer impressive features you can't currently find in any other flagship smartphones on the market, whether powered by Android or iOS. From its big, beautiful 6.8-inch HDR10+ Dynamic AMOLED display, to its wireless charging, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage (starting capacity), unique S-Pen stylus input, and its excellent camera array with innovative features and killer portrait mode shooting -- the Galaxy Note 10+ is a no-compromise Android flagship that also delivers top-shelf battery life.
What more could you want in a smartphone? Except for that non-existent headphone jack maybe, there's little we can think of. The question is whether or not you can live without some of the Note 10+'s innovative features, in an effort to save more than a few pesos. Ultimately, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is a fantastic new offering for the stylus pen-wielding faithful. It will be interesting to watch Samsung's sell-through rate on these devices, because while this new note-taking, premium flagship is a stunner, it also caters to a notably more elite niche' market as well.
