Amazon’s Sleek Echo Wall Clock Arrives For The Holidays With Alexa Smart Timers

Amazon is intent on getting Alexa into just about every object in your home. While the voice assistant started embedded in smart speakers, it has since expanded into devices that are suited to the kitchen like microwaves and now wall clocks. Amazon has announced the availability of the Echo Wall Clock, and this device isn't what you think it is at first glance. Alexa isn't actually embedded into the clock; it requires a compatible Echo device to operate.

People who cook frequently in the kitchen and need lots of timers will probably be interested in the Echo Wall Clock. The device can show a single timer or multiple timers on its face. The timers can be for anything from cookies in the oven to how long your kid has to study before playing video games. A glance at the face of the clock shows the little glowing hash marks representing the minutes for your timers.

The clock uses a digital 60 LED display to show the timers, and since it is synched to a compatible Echo device, it automatically adjusts for daylight saving time. Compatible Echo devices include the Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Plus, Echo Spot, or Echo input, essentially all Echo devices. Once the clock is paired with the Echo device, setting a timer you can see on the clock face is as easy as saying "Alexa, set a 12-minute timer" and the countdown for that timer is viewable on the Echo Wall Clock.

Setup of the Echo Wall Clock is done through the Echo device using the voice command, "Alexa, set up my Echo Wall clock." The clock is offered in one color and has a 10-inch diameter with a white bezel around the face. The mounting hardware and quartet of AA batteries needed for power are included in the Echo Wall Clock's $29.99 price. Amazon currently shows the clock in stock on Christmas Eve with Prime delivery by December 27-28.
