Fortnite For Android Exclusivity Already Over For Samsung Galaxy Devices, Beta Invites Incoming

Fortnite fans on Android weren't happy when word surfaced that the game would be an exclusive title for Samsung on the newly unveiled Galaxy Note 9 and other newer Galaxy devices via Galaxy Apps. Fortnite is a huge deal with massive numbers of players battling it out and has turned over a billion dollars in revenue for a game that costs nothing to download. The good news for Android Fortnite fans with no intention of buying a new Samsung device was that Fortnite exclusivity was promised to be short-lived.

Samsung's exclusive deal wore off over the weekend and that means that Android gamers on other devices will be able to play the game soon. The catch for other Android users not on a Samsung device is that you still need to sign up for a Fortnite Android beta invitation. You can't play the game until you get that invite code from Epic Games and there is no guarantee you will get a code.

What you can do is download the game, install it, and be ready to go when your beta invite comes in. Epic Games is doing something completely different with Fortnite for Android and has bypassed the Google Play store. The reason for skipping the Google Play store was to keep from having to fork over profits to Google. Fortnite for Android may well be the first time that many Android users have downloaded anything that wasn't from the Google Play store.

There is a different installation process and Epic has pointed out that gamers will see an installer with a popup notification that will ask them to disable the permissions you granted to load the app. When you tap that pop up it will take you the settings menu to disable those permissions. Epic Games doesn’t want anyone leaving their device open and vulnerable after installing Fortnite.

If you are frothing to get Fortnite for Android installed you will need to be sure that your phone can run it. Not all Android devices will be able to as you need a recent device with the processing and graphics muscle to handle the game. Epic put out a list of devices that will support Fortnite for Android last month, the list of compatible phones is below.
