HP Sprocket Printer Slips In Your Pocket, Wirelessly Prints 2x3-inch Photos From Your Smartphone
Printers can be so inconvenient. Most are big, bulky, stationary, and sometimes downright obstinate. HP, however, has just released the Sprocket -- a pocket-sized printer that can easily print 2" x 3" photos from a smartphone.
The Sprocket is 4.53 x 2.95 x 0.87 inches and weighs just 0.379 pounds. It comes with up to 512MB of onboard storage along with Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC connectivity. The Sprocket incorporates a two-cell 500 mAh Li-Polymer 7.4 V battery and takes roughly 90 minutes to charge. The print quality is 313 x 400 dpi and the device supports .jpeg, .tiff (iOS only), .gif, .bmp, and .png. It uses thermal ZINK Zero Ink to print on HP ZINK sticky-backed photo paper.
Users print through the HP Sprocket app, which is freely available on iOS and Android. Users can customize their photos with frames, texts, stickers, and filters. The photos cannot only be printed, but shared on apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Flickr. Thanks to the Bluetooth connectivity, other uses can connect to the customer’s Sprocket through their smartphones and tablets.
